Merciful God,
We thank you for your assurance that you are a God who visits His people in their time of need. Admittedly, there are times we feel held captive by anxiety, doubt, old habits, or by difficult circumstances. It is our prayer that you would visit us in our present situation and break the chains that bind us, setting us free. We trust in Your power to release us from whatever holds us captive, whether it is physical, emotional, or spiritual.
We ask that you also visit those in our world who are held in literal or figurative captivity: the oppressed, the enslaved, the lonely, and the brokenhearted. Through us, turn away their captivity and lead them into a place of freedom and restoration.
Lord, we believe that you are indeed a God who acts on behalf of your people. We receive this promise with gratitude and faith in the mighty name of Jesus, we pray.
Amen.
